Electric blue for me

Me untangling about 5 ft of wire and wrapping it around a spool while Jimmy reads the directions and puts parts together for her electricity science kit. His daughter? She was coloring haha

Why do the parents always end up with the hard fun parts? haha

I'm linking up with Mrs. Three in Three for Wordless-ish Wednesday!

A funny kind of way, A funny kind of day

As per usual, there's been lots of great things coming out of Jimmy's daughter lately...

  • Can you make me dessert, cause I used my legs a lot?
  • If you go too fast, you'll pass the law!
  • I didn't want to do a yawn. I just had to do a yawn for my brain!
  • I'm getting sea sick of rain.
  • Before you get old, and I'm only nine, will you teach me how to cook so that when you're old, you don't have to cook and I can cook for you?
We've also been treated to a never ending stream of jokes lately - some of them make sense like...

What do you get when you step on banana peels?
Slippers!

or

What did one glue say to the other glue?
We've got to stick together!

But some of them... not so much (they're still funny though!)

What do you get when there is a dog that's hot?
A hot dog!

or

What do you get when there is a tree on Christmas?
A Christmas tree!

One thing is for sure, life is never dull when she's around!

(This was on Halloween, she doesn't usually walk around with 15 pounds of yarn on her head haha)

I do it for Chicago.

The birthday girl only had one request for her birthday dinner so of course, we indulged while we were in Chicago...

and she wanted crab.

And not only did she want to eat, she wanted to break it apart all by herself - we were dodging errant pieces of crab shell all dinner long! It was too funny to watch!

Apparently, Jimmy hadn't gotten his fill of the Billy Goat because after dinner we went to the original Billy Goat to grab a drink and look around at the rest of the stuff hanging on the wall. Jimmy has already said that the next time we're in Chicago, he wants to go back so he can look around some more - there was so much and no way we could see it all!

Soon, it was time to head back so we hopped on the train again while she dressed up Max in his Tiger gear (don't worry, he got a Cubby uniform as well - but absolutely no ChiSox ;-)

Meanwhile, Jimmy decided he was hungry and couldn't resist the leftovers he had been carrying around all evening...

I'm really not sure why I found this so funny...but I couldn't stop laughing!

If we were kids...

I know I just did one of these, but she's been saying so many funny things, I just had to record them!

  • Talking about fireworks: I don't like the mouses that squeak in the sky. The frogs are ok though.
  • We can't eat deers 'cause they are quiet.
  • Eating mac and cheese: Are there potatoes in here? I taste potatoes.
  • No, everyone's from Michigan 'cause Florida flooded.
  • While buckling her seatbelt: It's like pulling a dog in the basement!
  • In the car one day:
Her: Where's my mom?
Jimmy: She's at Cedar Pointe.
Her: No! I said where's my mom!?!?
Jimmy: She's at Cedar Pointe.
Her: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T SEE MY POINT!

See what I mean?

Silly girl

August 21, 2012

Oh, honey you're so funny all the time.

I have a list on my phone of the funny things that Jimmy's daughter says - I love being able to look back and read them! She is such a silly girl!

  • I'm like a raccoon, huh?
  • There might be monkeys at the bottom of my oatmeal.
  • Loose top lippin' is the right way to drink.
  • If you fall in the street and get run over by a car I'll scream 'noooooo!' 'cause I love you too much.
  • I got a joke- why did the chicken jump on the cow? So he was up high! How did the tree walk? He used legs! How did the tree fly? He used wings! How did the tree get into space? He used a spaceship!
  • Sometimes oranges are called tambourines.
  • I can't look in the mirror because I'll get distracted and it will eat me!

She always has us cracking up!

Not many ninja's exist today, yet they all have indomitable fighting skills.

A few weeks ago, my friend Katie at work went on vacation and when I got back to my desk, she left me little present...

A cute little voodoo ninja!

But the best part is the description on the package:

Seriously, so perfect lol

Kids say the darndest things

Jimmy's daughter is one of the funniest kids I've ever met. A million times a day, I just die laughing over something she says... Here's some of my faves:

  • "Holy moly with my eyes on!"
  • "I can't ride my bike to the pool 'cause I'm wearing my hat."
  • "Why don't people in cartoons ever go to the bathroom?" (I couldn't even answer that one lol)
  • While eating the tomatoes in our dinner one night: "These red things MUST be macaroni!"
  • Talk about her yogurt: "This is like the beautiful people when we're riding in the helicopter!"
  • "My skirt makes me look rusty"
  • Playing with Play-Doh: "You're good and you're nice, but you ruined my dog"
  • This was a conversation between her and Jimmy:
 Her: Are you Italian?
Jimmy: Yes, I'm partly Italian.
Her: Not Italian... are A Talian?
Jimmy: ...

 Seriously dying right now!
What a funny kid!

Got him spittin like that pitcher from the KC Royals

Even though Jimmy is a Tigers fan, he loves the Royals, though I'm not exactly sure why (part of me thinks it's just to get a rise out of me...stinker lol)

He also loves Brandon Inge-he was pretty upset when he get released by the Tigers a few weeks ago. He was even more upset that he went to the A's, not cause he dislikes the A's for any reason, he just thought Brandon should play for the Royals.

So much so, that he ordered a Brandon Inge/Kansas City Royals shirt. No, really. He did.

I may be the only one who does, but I find this hilarious. lol

It's like you want me to, like you want me to fail.

I saw this on Pinterest a few weeks back and immediately pinned it-I just knew Maddy would have so much fun with it!

The little blurb under the picture said to cut open glow sticks and pour them into bubble solution, and tada! Glowing bubbles! Can't get much easier than that!

So I went around last week and got supplies and told Maddy about it-we were all sooo excited, it was pretty much all she talked about on Sunday night.

We go outside Sunday night and start playing with bubbles and when it starts getting dark, we cut open a glow stick, pour it in and try it out.

 Nothing.

Hmmm... maybe these are just small glow sticks, let's just put in another.

 Nope.

One more?

Nada.

The bottle was glowing, but the bubbles were just plain, old bubbles- Maddy and I were so disappointed!

After she went to bed, I got on Pinterest and clicked on the picture, taking me to the website that explained everything... Well, apparently you're not supposed to use glow sticks at all! The woman said to use glow in the dark paint and people in the comments were remarking on the fact that someone had skewed it on Pinterest to say glow sticks and no one was having success! Apparently, I wasn't the only one lol

Moral of the story?
Read the website, not just the Pin lol

FAIL

Make me feel a little better-
Have any of ya'll had any Pinterest fails?

May 30, 2012

It’s Memorial Day in America, everybody’s on the road. Let’s remember our fallen heroes. Y’all be sure and drive slow.

Since the business I work in is open 363 days a year, I was pretty excited when I was able to take Memorial Day off-Jimmy and his daughter were both home so I was excited to spend the day together!

We started the day off with some Coney Island breakfast and some shopping before it got to hot out (it reached like 95*!)

After we got back from all that, I started cooking and Madison did some drawing. (Ever since we went to my parents a few weeks ago, Jimmy has been raving about my mom's potato salad so I made it for him. It's actually my grandma's recipe and I was pretty impressed with myself at hoe it turned out! He wouldn't even let me eat the leftovers because he wanted them to take to work lol So I consider that a success :-)

We did some more lounging around then we went down to the pool to cool down. It was amazing! I'm usually not big on pools or swimming, but I have a feeling I'll be spending some time down there this summer lol

Eventually, we came back and started to cook dinner-yummy steaks and potato salad and I made a patriotic dessert lol

Our food coma kicked in, so we just laid around for the rest of the night and watched Maddy do puzzles...

No, really, that's how she did her puzzle... lol

Hope you guys had a relaxing Memorial Day!

So what if I was the only one who did sparklers? lol

Goodnight, Hollywood boulevard. See you sometime, Yeah, right

Have ya'll heard of the Five Year Engagement? It's got Emily Blunt and Jason Segel? Well, if you haven't you should go check it out-it was totally filmed at my work (well partly! lol)

In the film, the actors work for the deli/bakery I work for and they filmed "on location" haha

A production company contacted the company I work for and wanted to use our name in the movie, along with shooting some of the scenes here. So basically for one whole day of work, they were shooting. It was pretty cool! We got to watch them film a couple scenes, in between doing my regular work. I really wanted to take pictures, but they didn't want anything to get leaked so we weren't allowed :-( They had our whole parking lot taken over with trailers and right in front of my office window, they were doing hair, make up and costumes-so cool!

Along with Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, Brian Posehn is in the film and all three were walking around. Every time I saw them, they were working and I didn't want to interrupt so I didn't get to say hi :-(

But when they were wrapping up, I saw Brian Posehn walking around and I really wanted to say hi!
via
(Just in case you didn't know who he was lol)

So I walked up to him, and said "hi", but even though it sounded really loud in my head, I must've whispered it, because he just kind of looked at me and walked away haha

Only me, right!?!?!

So moral of the story, go see the movie! And if you are ever in Ann Arbor, stop by, grab a sandwich and a pastry and say hello!

March 14, 2012

I've got a pencil full of lead and some water for my throat.

My friend at work has a knack for finding the best stuff on Pinterest, Etsy, where ever. So I wasn't really surprised when I walked into work and saw this on my desk.

It's an engraved pencil! I about died laughing when I saw it-I just think it's sooooo funny!

What do ya'll think?
Am I just silly or doe other people think its funny too?

I'm sure most people have seen these, but if you haven't WATCH THEM! They are hilarious!

Too funny, right?!?!
Although, I'm a tad embarrassed to admit that I say pretty much all of this...oops lol

September 12, 2011

I'm the guy that dies in the beginning of the movie

I don't currently have cable, so I've been watching a lot of movies. Usually, I go to the library and rent movies (My library has a great collection of documentaries which I love!) but lately, I'm addicted to RedBox! I had a few codes to get some free rentals and even without those, it's only $1! Can't really beat that!

Since moving in, I've watched a few that I really liked and one that was not as funny as I expected :-(

First, I was Just Go With It, with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.

Let me preface by saying that Adam Sandler is one of my favorite actors (Big Daddy is one of my all time favorite movies), and this did not disappoint! I thought he was so funny and Jennifer Aniston, too! Between this and Horrible Bosses, she's becoming quite the little comedienne, isn't she? The plot itself was kind of silly and predictable, but I thought the jokes more than made up for it. Plus, I love the Andy Roddick cameo at the end! (PS I loved the soundtrack from this-it was a bunch of mash-ups!)

The second one I liked was Hall Pass with Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis.

It was pretty funny, too, though I though the supporting actors and actresses were the funniest parts. I just love Jenna Fisher and Christina Applegate and they were both funny in this. And there were some definite parts that had me laughing out loud.

The third one I rented I wasn't really happy with. I got The Dilemma with Vince Vaughn and Kevin James. I love love love both of them, so I was a little upset that this wasn't really funny...at all. They tried, but the jokes just fell flat :-( I can't be too mad since it was free, so I'll just wait till they have another movie come out to redeem themselves lol

Have you guys seen any good movies lately? Any recommendations?

This is dedicated to all my little brothers, little homies, yo check it out

Reason #4743548643 I love my brother: When I say something silly, he doesn't insult me. He just ignores me.

Me: I know I'm like super late, but I think I finally get Twitter.
Sam:*confused*There's nothing to "get"...
Me: I know...but before, I didn't get it, and now...I do...
Sam: *Shakes head*.....

Unfortunately, this is how a lot of conversations go haha

August 16, 2011

You may fool me, and I'll fall. But I won’t stay down long, cause I’m country strong.

Sometimes my girly-ness surprises me. Growing up I was a tom-boy and even now that I'm older and have embraced my love for shoes, and nail polish, and fashion, I still surprise myself.

Like on Friday night, when I had the over-whelming urge to watch Country Strong...

which I really liked but was a big ball of tears by the end

and eat ice cream, chocolate preferably.
How cute are these little containers?

And yes, I went to the store to buy something for dinner and left with a chick flick and ice cream.

Yet, I'm surprised when I figure out I'm PMS-ing. Doh!

July 15, 2011

I'm on the grind movin' them cupcakes.

So there's this cupcake shop that I drive by every time I go to the store pretty much, so like 4 or 5 times a week. Even though I work at a bakery, every time I drive by, I'm tempted to go in and buy a cupcake, but I never do.

The other day, I was having a particular aggravating, not bad, just aggravating for a multitude of reasons and decided to go grocery shopping after work. On my way to the store, I decided I was not in to the mood to go grocery shopping, an activity which I loathe, so I decided to get a cupcake instead.

Oreo cupcake-chocolate cake with marshmallows and oreo's on top.

Best. Decision. Ever.

(P.S. I still haven't gone to the grocery store. ha!)

July 14, 2011

Come to my window, crawl inside, wait by the light of the moon.

Moving out of my parents, yet still living in the same city has some definite advantages for both sides. For me, I get home cooked meals whenever I want, a place to sleep if I'm out late and happen to be closer to their house than mine, and, since they live closer to the gym than I do, a place to shower because public showers are just....ew.

For them, they get to enjoy the perks of me working a bakery (I'm pretty sure they haven't bought a loaf of bread in almost 3 years), they get to hang out with me (which is the best part, I'm sure) and, since my brother often drives my mom's car, I am available to play chauffeur.

My morning routine involves going to the gym, then heading to my parents to use the aforementioned shower and then going to work. And with the role of chauffeur, a few times a week I drop my mom off at work. They let me use their shower and I drive my mom to work-it's a great trade off.

One particular morning, we were leaving for work and as soon as the door closed, I realized I had left my keys, both car and house, inside the (now locked) house.

"Oh, shoot. My keys are in there. Do you have your house key?"

"Um....no.... Your brother has my keys."

We stared at each other in horror for a good 30 seconds. Since it was the middle of summer, we had closed all of the windows and turned on the air conditioner. Neither of us had a garage door opener. Our neighbors that have a copy of our house key were on vacation.

Basically, we were screwed.

We walked around the house, double checking all the windows, when we came to my parents bathroom. There is a small window, farther off the ground than the rest. We noticed that the window was open just a crack, but with the window being 8 or 9 feet off the ground and my mom being the taller of the two of us, coming in at 5'3", we were at a loss for how to use this to our advantage.

After trying a couple different options (think cheerleaders trying to throw the flyer), I finally climbed onto my mother's shoulders and was able to lift the window a little farther. I hoisted myself through the window and lowered myself to the ground. After breathing a sigh of relief, I ran around the house, grabbed my keys and double checked that my house keys were in fact on the ring, locking the door and finally going to work.

After that experience, I can honestly say I never lock, or even just close the door, without being absolutely, positively certain, my keys are on the same side of the door as me.

June 26, 2011

Santa Clause is coming to town.

The other day, I decided to do indulge in some retail therapy and ended up at my new love fave store, Hobby Lobby.

I had never been to Hobby Lobby until I moved into the place I'm living now, which is close to a town that has one, and I have fallen in love! They always have so much great crafting stuff, cute home decor and good sales.

But I found this when I went there last week. Mind you, it was June 23rd.

Oh, what's up, Santa?

Are you kidding me right now!?!?!

I'll never complain about Christmas decorations being out before Thanksgiving again. Promise. Just put these away for a few months, I'm not ready.

June 3, 2011

He stole plenty bases before his legs quit.

I saw this on Top Plays the other morning while I was watching SportsCenter at the gym, and I loved it, so much I had to post it :-)

Amazing!
